The Ph. Hahn Söhne KG diamond grinding and trading company is the oldest diamond grinding company in Germany and is based in Idar-Oberstein .

Companies

At Ph. Hahn Söhne, diamond cutters use machines to saw, grate and grind diamonds into pieces of jewelry. Some of the devices and machines are computer-aided. In addition, grinding work, repair work and barrel service work are carried out on the precious stones and pieces of jewelry.

The company also trades in diamonds. Their origin must be determined in accordance with regulations based on UN resolutions 1171, 1173, 1306 and 1343. Therefore, the company only sells diamonds whose origin has been identified by the Diamant Prüflabor GmbH , Hoge Raad vor Diamant or the Gemmological Institute of America. For this reason, Hahn is also certified as a member of the World Association of Gemstone Exchanges (original: World Foundation of Diamant Bourses). The company also supports the awarding of the German jewelry and gemstone award.

Hahn took part in national and international gemstone and jewelry fairs , including INTERGEM and INHORGENTA .

history

In 1846 Philipp Hahn sr. a gemstone cutter and gemstone shop. This opened its first branch outside of Europe in New York in 1881. In 1900 the current company building was erected in Idar-Oberstein, which is the company's headquarters. During the two world wars the company almost came to a standstill and no more diamonds were obtained. In 1947 the company began grinding diamonds again, which it obtained from London from 1959. In 1964, Hahn set up a diamond cutting shop in Africa. In 1986 the company celebrated its 100th anniversary. In 1994 Dieter Hahn took over the company and ran it as a partnership. The company building was renovated from 2000 to 2001. Hahn has been run as a KG since 2014.
