Phayu

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Phraya Phayu was the fifth king of Lan Na and ruled between 1336 and 1355.

Phayu was set up in 1334 by his father Kham Fu as ruler of the capital Chiang Mai , as he stayed in Chiang Saen to defend the country to the north. Phayu was crowned in Chiang Mai according to an ancient rite. As Chiang Saen was adequately equipped, Phayu could reside in Chiang Mai and participate in the incorporation of Phayao into Lan Na, which his father had taken.

Phayu tied ties with neighboring rulers through marriage policy . He himself took Chitrathewi, a princess from Chiang Khong , southeast of Chiang Saen , as his wife. Phayu promoted and protected Buddhism . He worked according to the ten virtues of a king and had the temple complex Wat Phra Singh built in the capital , where he also buried the remains of his father.
