Phaneroptera ( ancient Greek φανερός phanerós "luminous", "apparently", "clear" and ancient Greek πτερόν pterón "wing", "wing feather") is a genus of jumping horror from the subfamily of sickle hornets (Phaneropterinae).

features

The animals are colored green to yellow-green and dotted with reddish brown. Characteristics typical of the genus are a rounded transition from the discus of the pronotum to the paranota , a thorn on the front hips , an oval tympanum , narrow elytra and rounded at the apex as well as the pigmentation of the protruding part of the alae . The cerci of the males are curved, the ovipositor of the females is sickle-shaped.

Occurrence

The distribution area of ​​the genus includes Central and Southern Europe, Africa and Asia.
