Fantasy (Eisenach)
The phantasy was a hotel and restaurant in the southern part of the city of Eisenach in Thuringia .

The fantasy lies in the Mariental in the Eisenacher Südviertel within the area monument Mariental directly at the southern entrance of the federal highway 19 . It is located about halfway between the two popular destinations Prinzenteich and Drachenschlucht .
history
The main building of the fantasy was erected around 1850. In 1859 the German National Association was founded in the imagination , a memorial plaque on the building reminds of this. In 1897, the property was connected to the Eisenach tram , whose Mariental line ended at the Phantasie stop from 1944 until its closure in 1958 . From the end of the 19th century until the 1930s, the Eisenacher Schützengilde ran the fantasy as an excursion restaurant, after which it went into private ownership. In the 1930s, the extension with the large dining area that has been preserved was built. A previously existing smaller hall was demolished for this purpose. In 1935 the beer garden was roofed over with the striking pergola that was still there . The use of the main building as a hotel and guesthouse ended in the 1980s. The adjoining hall was used as a restaurant until the early 1990s.
After years of vacancy, a private investor acquired the building in 2015, which initially restored and reopened the historic beer garden. The main building , which was heavily infested with dry rot, was then to be replaced by a new building of the same cubature. The demolition of the historic building began at the beginning of September 2018 after a chimney had fallen into the roof during a storm. In the new building, 12 holiday apartments and a common room for various uses (but no permanent catering) are to be created.
The construction work for the follow-up building finally began in spring 2019, a public topping-out ceremony was celebrated in June and the facade work was completed and the scaffolding removed in January of the following year (apart from a few details below). The opening is planned for the third quarter of 2020.
