Phantom pen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The phantom pen or sublimate pen is an aid for sketching out designs on z. B. silk or fabric .

Working method

The phantom pen is similar to a felt-tip pen . The lines drawn with it disappear, depending on the product and environmental conditions, typically within a few hours to a few days by themselves. Thus, the sketching of the motif should be completed within this time. Should a further elaboration be desired, this should be marked with a hyphen .

Delay fading

It is possible by opaque covering the preliminary drawing to delay the process of disappearing by a few hours. If the silk or fabric intended for painting is already stretched on a frame , it is advisable to also cover the back against the effects of light and air.

Correction by fluid

If there is a drawing with the phantom pen , the drawing can be made to disappear with water , as the substance of the pen also reacts to liquid.

Others

Especially ideal for working on raw white silk using the simple release agent technique, as the color of the phantom pen always disappears completely.
