Phil & John were a German hit duo that was successful in the 1970s.
Life
Phil (real name: Klaus Dieter Hill , born March 8, 1948 in Bochum ) and John (real name: Hans Lothar Odenthal , born January 19, 1949 in Rheydt ) were discovered as a singing duo by Tony Hendrik in May 1972 and were produced until 1976. In the same year her first record Hello Buddy was released . The second single, a cover version of the hit Hello Mary Lou from the 1960s, did best in June 1972 with position 20 in the German charts . The hit duo brought out a total of 13 singles by 1976. Seven of these reached middle positions on the German charts.
The duo was also several times a guest in the ZDF hit parade , where they presented their hit Hello Mary Lou on August 5, 1972 . After the dissolution in 1976, Phil started a solo career under his real name, but this was unsuccessful. John worked as a music producer.
In 1979 the duo did not team up again for the singles Ramona and Schlaf in the subway , which however could no longer build on their successes from the first half of the decade.
