Philaios (Athens)

Philaios ( Greek  Φίλαιος ) was in Greek mythology the son of Ajax the great , the brother of Eurysakes and the last ruler of the island of Aegina . Other sources refer to him as the son of Eurysakes and grandson of Ajax and the last ruler of Salamis . He is said to have given the island to the Athenians and settled in Attica . An Attic demos , named after him Philaidai , is said to have emerged from the settlement near Brauron . He is also the founder of the Attic family of the Philaids .
