Philip Courtenay

Sir Philip Courtenay of Molland (* around 1403, † 1489 ) was an English knight .

Life

Sir Philip Courtenay was the second son of Sir Philip Courtenay of Powderham and Elizabeth Hungerford.

The Courtenay family is an ancient noble family with an English lineage that has been called Earl of Devon , intermittently, since the early 14th century. Philip Courtenay of Molland was the founder of the Sideline of Molland . House and property at Molland in Devon were brought into the family by his mother and Sir Philip inherited it from his father.

Sir Philip fought during the Wars of the Roses for the House of York during the Battle of Tewkesbury on 4 May 1471, at the Battle of Bosworth Field on August 22, 1485. In Tewkesbury Philip was a Knight Bachelor for beaten knight . Sir Philip was sheriff of Devonshire in 1471 and was appointed under Richard III. named Knight of the Kings Body .

Sir Philip died in 1489.
