Philip Hobel
Philip Sherman Hobel (* 1920 or 1921 in New York City ; † October 23, 2013 ) was an American film and television producer .
Life
Hobel graduated from Columbia College in 1942 and served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Ocean during World War II . After the end of the war he founded the Cortland Furniture Company, which also served as its director. From 1970 he turned to film and television production. Together with his wife, he founded the film distribution company The Cinema Guild. Together with Douglas Leiterman (1927–2012) he ran the production company Hobel-Leiterman Productions. This is how bpsw. the documentary series The Fabulous Sixties . He was also the founder of Document Associates.
For the film Comeback der Liebe he was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Picture in 1984.
Hobel died at the age of 92. He left behind his wife and three children.
