The Philip Smith Mountains are a mountain range of the Brooks Range in the North Slope of Alaska . They extend from the Sagavanirkenok River and North Fork Chandalar River in the southwest to the Canning River and East Fork Chandalar River in the northeast.
The highest peak in the Philip Smith Mountains is Accomplishment Peak at 2,452 m . Seven of the ten highest peaks in the mountain range have no name.
The mountain range was named in 1950 by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) after Philip Sidney Smith (1877-1949), a geologist with the USGS.
