Life

Philipp Hulden (Philipp Liber ab Hulden) was a doctor in Sweden and then in Poland. He was the personal physician of the Bishop of Cujavien. He was then court advisor and personal physician to the Duke of Württemberg-Oels and finally senator and full physicist for the city of Neumark in Silesia.

On August 18, 1700 Philipp Freiherr von Hulden with the academic surname Praxagoras was accepted as a member ( matriculation no. 244 ) in the Leopoldina . He was a member of the medicine section.

Questionable identity

According to rumors, a Philipp Lobenstein in Neumarkt is said to have passed himself off as Philipp von Hulden. This Philipp Lobenstein, who was not a doctor, was after some time accused of witchcraft by the Neumarkt city council. He is also said to have been in league with the devil and committed gross fornication. He was removed from office and jailed for a year, and all of his writings were burned.
