Philipp Kohl-Priebe (* 1956 in Düsseldorf ) is a German theater maker, director and presenter.

Life

Philipp Kohl-Priebe's artistic work began in the early 1980s in the "independent scene". His productions were shown in the Theaterhaus Düsseldorf and in the JuTA ( Young Theater in the Old Town ). In the 1980s he played a key role in setting up the first venue for the independent Düsseldorf theater scene "Theater im AUXILUM". Philipp Kohl-Priebe realized directorial projects in collaboration with the Heinrich Heine Institute on the "Mann Family", with the senior citizens' advisory board of the state capital Düsseldorf for the "Düsseldorfer Kulturherbst" and with the memorial about the "Book Burnings in the Third." Reich ”, which attracted attention far beyond the city limits and which led to guest tours to Berlin, Hamburg, Lübeck and Munich. From 1998 to 2003 he made a name for himself in the cultural and political landscape of Düsseldorf as the spokesman for the independent Düsseldorf theater professionals, as an intermediary between the creative theater people and the administration of the state capital Düsseldorf.

In 2004, together with Oliver Priebe, he opened the Düsseldorf district theater, Theater FLINgern, at Ackerstraße 144 in Düsseldorf-Flingern. At the end of 2014, the house had to make way for a residential construction project (gentrification in the Flingern district). In January 2015, Philipp Kohlen-Priebe and Oliver Priebe took over HAUS MARX in Düsseldorf-Grafenberg (which had existed in Düsseldorf since 1904). After a renovation and restoration work on the Art Nouveau building, they reopened as a cabaret under the name “ KaBARett FLiN ”.

About 50% of the “KaBARett FLiN” program is made up of in-house productions, otherwise artists from the German cabaret, comedy and cabaret scene are guests.

In 2005, Philipp Kohlen-Priebe was awarded the Martinstaler by the state capital Düsseldorf for his “extraordinary cultural commitment”.
