Philippe Édouard Foucaux

Philippe Édouard Foucaux (born September 15, 1811 in Angers , † May 19, 1894 in Paris ) was a French Tibetologist and Indologist . He published the first grammar of the Tibetan language in French and held the first professorship in Tibetology in Europe , where he held his inaugural Tibetan lecture at the École spéciale des Langues Orientales in Paris on January 31, 1842 .
