Philippe Sergeant
Philippe Sergeant was a French Paulan monk , botanist and teacher of Charles Plumier at the Santa Trinità dei Monti monastery in Rome . He lived in the 17th century.
Dedication names
Charles Plumier named the genus Serjania of the soap tree family (Sapindaceae) in his honor . Carl von Linné put the genus under the name Seriana to Paullinia . Philip Miller later took up the generic name Serjania again.
