biography

Carmichael began rugby at his school, St Joseph's Gregory Terrace, in Brisbane, from a total of 28 games, he led the team five times as captain. After graduating, he played club rugby for South Brisbane, North Brisbane and Christian Brothers' Football Club in succession . He moved to Brothers' FC in 1906 when they first played in the major rugby union league of Queensland; in the second year he took her as captain to her first Queensland State Championship.

In 1903 he played his first game from a total of 28 to 1909 for the state selection of Queensland , against the English national team , which was touring Australia, and was called up because of his performance in the Australian team for the international match against England in Brisbane in 1904. After another test in 1907 against the All Blacks , he was appointed to the squad of the first Australian touring team to Europe and North America in 1908 . On the tour he played in both tests - against England and Wales . Carmichael was also used in the only game of the rugby tournament at the 1908 Summer Olympics and thus became Olympic champion.

Phil Carmichael already played in his school days and later in the clubs together with his younger brothers Joe and Vincent in the back team ; both were also part of the Queensland selection : Joe from 1906 to 1910 (18 games) and Vincent from 1910 to 1913.
