Phillips is an impact crater on the eastern edge of the front of the moon , southeast of Mare Fecunditatis , east of the large Humboldt crater , on whose edge it is directly connected. The crater is very badly eroded and the inside is uneven.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the British geologist and astronomer John Phillips .
