Elinton Sanchotene Andrade (born March 30, 1979 in Santa Maria , Rio Grande do Sul ) is a former Brazilian soccer goalkeeper . He won the Romanian championship with Rapid Bucharest in 2007 and the French championship in 2010 with Olympique Marseille.
Career
Andrade initially played for clubs from Rio de Janeiro and the surrounding area, before he had a brief engagement with the Italian club Ascoli Calcio in 2006. He then ventured abroad in July 2007 and hired the Romanian first division club Rapid Bucharest . In the state capital he mostly represented Dănuț Coman , but could not displace him as a regular goalkeeper. Nevertheless, he played 36 league games for Rapid in two years and came to three UEFA Cup appearances, whereby the opponents were always Bundesliga clubs. In 2009 he was signed by Olympique Marseille , where he has been a substitute goalkeeper since then. In 2009/10 he was able to win the French championship title, to which he himself had contributed with his only three first division appearances for the southern French.
On March 28, 2012, he was in the quarter-final first leg of the Champions League against FC Bayern Munich in the starting line-up, as regular goalkeeper Steve Mandanda was missing due to a yellow-red ban and substitute goalkeeper Gennaro Bracigliano was only on the bench. In summer 2012 he left the club. In June 2013, Náutico Capibaribe signed him before moving to Ermis Aradippou in Cyprus a short time later . He left the club mid- season 2013/14 again and returned to Duque de Caxias FC back, which in the Brazilian Série C played. At the end of the 2014 season, his team had to relegate. Andrade moved to Uberlândia EC , in the summer of 2015 he joined the Indian club FC Goa . There he and his team won the runner-up in 2015 . Since the beginning of 2016 he was without a club and ended his career.
At the European Games Andrade, who also has Portuguese citizenship, won the bronze medal in beach soccer with the Portuguese team .
