Uberlândia EC, pronounced Uberlândia Esporte Clube , was founded on November 1, 1922. The association is based in Uberlândia , the second largest city in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais after Belo Horizonte . Since its inception, Uberlândia EC has almost always played in the lower Brazilian football leagues, and it has hardly been successful to this day. The biggest success of the club is probably winning the second Brazilian league, the Série B , in 1984. At that time they finished in the final first place ahead of Clube do Remo from Belém and thus promotion to the Series A . There they finished 37th in the table in their first season and had to go back to the second division after just one season in the Brazilian elite league. In 1989 you finished 59th in Série B and had to relegate to Série C. Since then, Uberlândia EC could not be found again in the higher Brazilian leagues. The club currently plays in the fourth-class Série D, where they are not one of the best clubs and most recently were eliminated in the first rounds. While Uberlândia is currently not achieving much in the league, it has celebrated a few cup wins in recent years. In 1999, for the second time after 1962, he won the state championship in Minas Gerais , but only at the second-highest level. Opponents in this championship include Atlético Mineiro and Cruzeiro from Belo Horizonte or Ipatinga FC from Ipatinga . In 2003, he also won the Minas Gerais Cup, the Taça Minas Gerais .
