Phillips and Rangeley Railroad

The Phillips and Rangeley Railroad is a former railway company in Maine ( United States ). It was founded on April 17, 1889 with the aim of extending the Sandy River Railroad from Phillips to Rangeley . The railway company opened the 46 km long Phillips – Rangeley line in 1891. The gauge was two feet (610 millimeters).

A branch line according to Number 6 was built in 1903, but the line was spun off and made independent as the Madrid Railroad . The line belonged to this railway, only the management was incumbent on Phillips & Rangeley. The railroad leased the Eustis Railroad on April 5, 1904 .

After bankruptcy in 1905, the Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes Railroad took over the Phillips & Rangeley on July 1, 1908 . In 1932 the line was shut down and dismantled. A short distance from Phillips can now be used as a museum again.
