Phoenix Games was a Dutch video game publisher who published titles for the PlayStation 2 , Nintendo DS , Microsoft Windows , DVD and the Wii . They also published films by the German animation studio Dingo Pictures on video game consoles. The German video game archive states that Phoenix Games has published 99 games on the PlayStation 2 alone.

Phoenix Games Group

Phoenix Games consisted of three companies, Phoenix Games BV, Phoenix Games LTD and Phoenix Games Asia. The group was an exhibitor at the E3 games fair in 2005 .

Phoenix Games BV

Founded in May 2002 by Willie Horden and Paul and Steve Share. You were an exhibitor at E3 2006 You were in De Pinckart 46 g, 5674 CC Nuenen, The Netherlands.

Phoenix Games BV filed for bankruptcy on August 3, 2010. On March 27, 2012 the bankruptcy was suspended in order to avoid a delay in receipts.

Phoenix Games LTD

Phoenix Games LTD is still a UK registered company located at 48 Boundary Rd, Newark, Notts, UK, NG24 4AL. The original address was 53 Malcolm Way, Snaresbrook, London E11 1PW.

Phoenix Games Asia

Phoenix Games Asia was located at 24 Sukhumvit, Soi 11, Unit 3B, Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok 10110, Thailand, Klongtoey Nua, Wattana. It is not known if this company still exists or if and when it closed.

Movies

Phoenix Games secured the rights to publish various animated films. Including many films by the German animation studio Dingo Pictures . The publications were not made on DVD, but together with puzzles and a virtual coloring book on various consoles. Many films were re-released on the PlayStation 2 compilation Cartoon Kingdom .

Games

According to the company's own statement, it only took about three to five months to develop the company's titles. These games were published on Nintendo DS, Wii, Playstation, Playstation 2, PC and DVD. From 2005 they planned to publish games for the PlayStation Portable as well. The original retail prices of the games ranged from £ 6.99 to £ 12.99 . In Germany the games were around € 20. In Italy the company Db-line sold the films and games until 2007. In Spain, some games were distributed by Atari . Most of the games received bad reviews in the trade press and with gamers at the same time. The game Paccie , published in 2004 on the Playstation 2, is currently considered lost.

  • All 99 PS2 covers were presented in 2013 in the Gamescom Art Gallery “Cover Verses”.
  • On the PlayStation 2 cover of the game Peter Pan's Playground was an artwork of the title Kingdom Hearts .
  • Before and after the group existed, there were companies with the same name. From 1978 to 1981, an American company produced video games best known for the game Bushido . In 2019, Klaas Kersting founded a development studio in Germany with the same name.
  • Paul Share also founded Midas Interactive in 1998.
