history

The company was founded in 1975 under the name "Phoenix Maschinentechnik AG". The first area of activity included the manufacture and sale of technical gases for the welding industry . The company came to the welding torch via the gas and dealt with it from then on. In 1976 the company entered the field of housings for electronic devices. In the same year, Phoenix took over its fiercest competitor.

After acquiring Hartmann, a manufacturer of electrotechnical parts, Phoenix consolidated its position as a component manufacturer for industrial electronics. In 1986 the no longer appropriate company name was changed to Phoenix Mecano AG. In 1988 the company went public .

In the years that followed, the company concentrated on by-products that were not viewed as strategic by the developers, engineers and machine builders, so Phoenix Mecano also acted as an outsourcing partner. When increasingly complex components and so-called subsystems were outsourced in the 1990s, Phoenix Mecano had the opportunity to take on a higher share of added value as a supplier . With the know-how built up internally and also acquired, the company has the opportunity to supply other than the traditional mechanical engineering and industrial electronics markets. The business was expanded and now also includes the lifestyle furniture, medical technology, oil & gas and solar technology markets.
