Photocyclization

In organic chemistry, a photocyclization is a chemical reaction taking place under the influence of light , in which a cyclic compound is formed from an open-chain (linear) compound.

The newly made bonds are marked in red in the reaction scheme. Educt and product have the same empirical formula C 4 H 6 .

However, the reaction only proceeds with a 30% yield .
