Phototaxis ( Hebrew פוטוטקסיס) is an electro soul band from Tel Aviv . Her current album "Neverlander" was released in 2018 on Backseat.

history

Front woman, singer, composer and songwriter Yael Feldinger founded the band in 2009 together with Itai Tsuk , who also composes, plays guitar and keyboard. The musicians in the extended environment of the band are Alex Rotman on drums, Nir Blum on bass, Yael Geva on trumpet and Neta Maimon on cello.

Phototaxis released their debut in 2010. This work was followed by three albums and an EP .

While the band was on the road with their album "Marinade" in 2015, they met Marie-Hélène Froidevaux, founder and partner of the music publisher Interstellar Music GmbH. Froidevaux helped phototaxis with tour booking and eventually took over management.

The current album " Neverlander " was created in 2016 and 2017 in collaboration with Beat Jegen, partner and A&R at Interstellar Music. The Swiss artist null.kelvin was responsible for designing the cover. The video for the single was shot by Kobie Flashman.

The German label Backseat signed the band for "Neverlander" within Europe.

In February 2018 the duo will go on a European tour with "Neverlander".

Influences

Phototaxis plays on Synth Pop, Dark Folk and is heavily influenced by bands such as Sampha, Radio Head, Fever Ray, Blonde Red Head, Rhye and Jose Gonzales.
