Phu Lon is an archaeological site in Loei Province .

Location and excavation history

Phu Lon is located in Amphoe Chiang Khan , Loei Province, in northeast Thailand, the Isan , in the catchment area of the Mekong . Phu Lon was researched and described by Vincent Pigott and Surapol Natapint in the 1980s .

Finds

Phu Lon is a connection between a copper mine and a place for processing bronze . The place was built between 1500 BC. Populated until the end of the 1st millennium. The shafts associated with the mine and the deep inclusions of ore processing (smelting and pouring) suggest annually recurring activities. Places on the adjacent Khorat plateau , e.g. B. Non Nok Tha and Ban Na Di , also suggest that the casting process often took place far away from the mines.
