The yarrow lugs ( Phytoecia pustulata ) is a beetle from the family of the longhorn beetle and the subfamily Lamiinae .
features
The yarrow trestle reaches a body length of 6–8 mm. The black beetles have fine gray hairs. The pronotum is significantly wider than it is long. In the middle of this, a red spot runs lengthways. The femora are colored red-black.
distribution
The species occurs in Central and Southern Europe. In the east, the occurrence extends to the Middle East . In Central Europe the species is considered rare. In Germany, the beetle species is on the Red List 2 (endangered).
Way of life
The adults are observed from April to August. The larvae develop in the stems of yarrow ( Achillea ).
