PicPick is a program for Windows operating systems for creating and editing screenshots, which is particularly popular in Asia . After installation, it resides in the notification field , from which all functions can be accessed via the context menu.

PicPick is free for private use. Commercial users have to purchase a license which, however, remains unchanged in terms of functionality.

Functions

Creation of screenshots

There are two ways to create screenshots: On the one hand, PicPick can take over the "print" key (a so-called hook ), so that a corresponding key press automatically takes a screenshot of the desktop or, in conjunction with the Alt key, the current one Window in PicPick opens. On the other hand, the tray context menu offers corresponding menu items with which it is also possible to "photograph" a freely selectable area of the desktop. This is done using the "freehand selection" or "rectangle selection" known from graphics programs such as IrfanView . With the option "Window Object" individual parts of a window can be photographed. This makes it possible, for example, to completely save scrolling web pages in a single screenshot.

image editing

Basic editing functions are available for the screenshots created with PicPick, but also for any other graphic files (see screenshot). For example, image areas can be “pixelated” and text can be added or edited.

Special functions

In addition to the mentioned functions for creating and editing screenshots, PicPick provides some special functions for general graphic editing , for example a screen ruler and a color selector that displays the color value anywhere on the screen. A pen ( whiteboard ) to paint the screen and mark areas is also built in. Since version 2.2, created graphics can be published via Facebook or Twitter .

Supported formats

The formats with the filename extensions .bmp , .emf , .gif , .ico , .jpg , .png and .wmf are supported .
