history

The town of Ronov was first mentioned in 1307 when it was founded by Ulrich ( Oldřich ) von Lichtenburg . Ulrich's father Smil of Lichtenburg had to close in 1261, the location Burg Lichtenburg . Ronov became the economic center of the eponymous rule. As Erbrichter Ulrich put the locator a Gottfried, who populated the assigned base with Germans. At the same time, Ulrich approved the operation of a Kretscham , a brewery and various crafts. The privileges were confirmed by the Bohemian King John of Luxembourg in 1331. King Vladislav II authorized the town to have two annual markets, which was followed in 1674 by Emperor Leopold I for a third fair.

Ernst Robenhaupt von Sucha (Robmhap ze Suché) had a castle built in Ronov, which was converted into a Baroque palace in the middle of the 17th century . Johann Wenzel Caretto de Millesimo united the Ronov reign with Třemošnice in 1747 and moved his seat there. The Ronover Castle fell into disrepair and was demolished in 1823. In its place, a new castle was built, which was built as an administrative building for a foundation for impoverished nobles. At the end of the 19th century it was rebuilt in the neo-Gothic style.

In 1908, Emperor Franz Joseph elevated Ronov, which had lost its town charter, to a town and a year later approved the use of a coat of arms. After the Second World War, Ronov lost the status of a town for 53 years. In 1998 it was again elevated to a town.
