history

The first written mention of Swidnicze was in 1349 as the property of the Benedictine monastery Podlažice . Later the village belonged to the Práčov minorite monastery founded by Jaroš Lacembok from Chlum and Strádov. In 1564 Svidnice was attached to the Seč domain . Wenzel Robenhaupt von Sucha sold the Seč rule in 1583 to the brothers Georg and Albrecht Brucknar von Bruckstein. The following landlord was from 1597 Karl Záruba von Hustířan. In 1628 Johann Záruba von Hustířan sold the Seč reign with Bojanov to the imperial lieutenant colonel Franz de Cuvier, who united them with his Nassaberg reign . After the death of his son and heir Emanuel de Cuvier († 1663) the rule fell to Nassaberg with Seč's mother, Rosina de Cuvier, née von Heiden, who was married to Nikolaus von Schönfeld for the second time . At the end of the 17th century, Joseph Franz von Schönfeld had a pond built below Práčov. In 1714 the papermaker Peter Seifert built a paper mill by the pond. After the fire of 1739, the paper mill was rebuilt.

In 1753, the rulership of Nassaberg fell to Johann Adam von Auersperg as the universal heir of the Counts of Schönfeld, who died out with Joseph Franz von Schönfeld († 1737). In 1754 the Budissin papermaker, Anton Ritschel, bought the paper mill, in which 6 journeymen and 3 apprentices were working at that time.

In 1835 the village of Swidnitz , located in the Chrudim district , consisted of 40 houses in which 302 people, including four Protestant families, lived. In the village there was a school, a flour mill, a paper mill and a raft rake for logging. To Swidnitz konskribiert were the monolayer Wischko ( Výškov ) with 2 houses and Barow ( Barov ) with a house. The parish was Prachev . The Ritschel family operated the paper mill until 1838 and then sold it for 23,000 guilders to the miller Josef Jeřábek, whose son - a trained papermaker - modernized and managed it. Until the middle of the 19th century, Swidnitz remained subject to Nassaberg rule.

After the abolition of patrimonial Svídnice formed from 1849 with the districts Brusy, Kochánovice, Práčov, Šiškovice 2. díl and Trpišov a municipality in the judicial district Nassaberg . Because of the decline in paper production, a grinding mill was installed at the paper mill at this time; In 1854 both burned down. Paper production was stopped in 1861; the name Papírna was transferred to the still operated Upper Svídnica Mill. From 1868 the municipality of Svídnice belonged to the political district of Chrudim . In 1869 Svídnice had 388 inhabitants, in 1890 there were 426. In 1900 there were 411 people in Svídnice. Kochánovice, Šiškovice 2. díl and Trpišov broke away from Svídnice in 1920 and formed the new municipality Trpišov. With the construction of the Křížanovice II retention basin, the Papírna mill and the mill pond went out in 1954 . In 1961 Svídnice and Trpišov merged to form a municipality Svídnice-Trpišov . On November 26, 1971 the districts Kochánovice and Trpišov were umgemeindet to Slatiňany; from then on the village bore its old name again, Svídnice .
