Mrákotín (German Mrakotin ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located five kilometers southwest of Skuteč and belongs to the Okres Chrudim .
geography
Mrákotín is located on the Mrákotínský creek in the Skutečská pahorkatina ( Skutscher hill country ). There are numerous flooded quarries in the municipality.
Neighboring towns are Horní Prosetín in the north, Malinné and Žďárec u Skutče in the northeast, Radčice in the east, Oldřetice and Pokřikov in the southeast, Raná , Oflenda and Medkovy Kopce in the south, Holetín in the southwest, Hůrka in the west as well as Tisovec , Dřeveš, Dřevešový Dvý Dvůr in the north-west.
history
The first written mention of the village belonging to the Richenburg was in 1456. The place is named after a person named Mrákot . In the 16th and 17th centuries the village was the seat of a Rychtář . The oldest seal of Rychta can be found on the Renewed Book of Rychta Mrákotín from 1695; it shows a winged horse with the inscription Pečeť richti Mrákotski .
In 1835 the rustic village of Mrakotin , located in the Chrudim district , consisted of 42 houses in which 398 people lived. There was a mill in the village and granite quarries were operated in the area . The main sources of income were the moderately profitable agriculture as well as the trade in flax and flax products. The parish office was Ranna . Until the middle of the 19th century Mrakotin remained subject to the Richenburg rule.
After the abolition of patrimonial Mrákotín formed from 1849 with the district Oflenda a municipality in the judicial district of Skuch . From 1868 the community belonged to the political district Hohenmauth . In 1869 Mrákotín had 402 inhabitants. The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1895. In 1900 there were 399 people living in the village, compared to 404 in 1910. In 1930 Mrákotín had 499 inhabitants. In 1949 the community was assigned to the newly formed Okres Hlinsko, and since 1961 it has belonged to Okres Chrudim. At the beginning of 1976 Mrákotín was incorporated into Prosetín . The municipality of Mrákotín has existed again since January 1st, 1995, and since 1996 it has had a coat of arms and a banner. In the 2001 census, the community consisted of 115 houses and 354 inhabitants; 314 people lived in the 102 houses in the village of Mrákotín.
