Medkovy Kopce (German Medkaberg , formerly Medky ) is a district of the municipality of Raná in the Czech Republic . It is located three kilometers northeast of Hlinsko and belongs to the Okres Chrudim .

geography

Medkovy Kopce is located in the north of Žďár mountains on the ridge Horky ( Horka ) in the conservation area CHKO Žďárské vrchy . Medkovy Kopce and Čertovina form a closed settlement area with a common village street; north of the road is Medkovy Kopce, south of it is Čertovina. On the western and northern outskirts, Medkovy Kopce is bypassed by the state road I / 34 between Hlinsko and Polička . The Havlíčkův Brod – Pardubice railway runs one and a half kilometers to the north . In the east the Čertovina (652 m nm) rises, to the northwest the Medkovy kopce (638 m nm). The stream Mrákotínský potok rises north of the village.

Neighboring towns are Dolní Holetín, Mrákotín and Oflenda in the north, Raná and Vojtěchov in the northeast, Kladno in the east, Dědová and Pláňavy in the southeast, Čertovina in the south, Srní in the west and Horní Holetín in the northwest.

history

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1754.

In 1835 the Dominikaldörfchen Medky , located in the Chrudim district near the inn Čertowina, consisted of 3 houses in which 19 people lived. The village was under the court in Holletin . The Catholic parish was Hlinsko, the Protestants were assigned to the pastorate Krauna . Until the middle of the 19th century Medky remained subordinate to the Richenburg rule.

After the abolition of patrimonial Medky formed from 1849 a district of the municipality Ranná in the judicial district of Hlinsko . From 1868 the village belonged to the political district of Chrudim . In 1869 Medky had 42 residents. In 1900 there were 52 people in Medky , in 1910 there were 61. Since 1924 the place has been officially called Medkovy Kopce . In 1930 Medkovy Kopce had 67 inhabitants. In 1949 the village was assigned to the newly formed Okres Hlinsko, and since 1961 it has belonged again to the Okres Chrudim. In the 2001 census, 59 people lived in Medkovy Kopce's 24 houses.

Attractions

• Peklo Čertovina, the adventure site in the ambience of hell, is reminiscent of a large ship lying upside down, 65 m long and 14 m wide. Corridors and caves were created below this up to a depth of 12 m. In 2017 Hell had over 100,000 visitors.
