history

The first written mention of Grunaw superior took place between 1349 and 1350, when Archbishop Ernst von Pardubitz built deaneries in the Litomyšl diocese . The place was a typical Hufendorf from the time of the German colonization. Grunaw superior , like Grunaw inferior, belonged to the Mauth deanery . The village was subordinate to the rule of Richenburg . The parish in Grenna was mentioned again under Bishop Johann Očko von Wlašim . In the years 1392 to 1544 the village was mentioned several times in the course of inscriptions in the country table .

During the Hussite Wars , the landlord Jan Pardus von Vratkov appointed an Utraquist as pastor. In 1620 the parish in Grunaw superior went out and was attached to Skutsch , from 1673 to Hlinsko and from 1677 again to Skutsch. In 1737 the parish of Krouna was established with the parishes of Oldříš, Humperky, Čachnov, Ruda, Otradov and Pustá Kamenice. The manufacture of wooden toys began in the 19th century . In 1833 Krauna had 1,353 inhabitants and consisted of 224 houses. There were five mills, a board saw, a manor, five taverns, a sheep farm and a forester's house in the village.

After the abolition of patrimonial, Krouna formed a community in the political district of Hohenmauth from 1850 . In 1897 the village received a railway connection after the completion of the local railway Zwittau – Polička – Skutsch . In 1949 the community was assigned to Okres Hlinsko and in 1961 to Okres Chrudim . In 1976 Čachnov, Františky, Oldřiš, Rychnov and Ruda were incorporated. On June 24, 1995, a railway accident occurred at the Krouna zastávka railway station . 19 people died in the collision of a railcar with three freight cars unloaded from Čachnov station.
