The surrounding forests were cleared for the extraction of charcoal and settlements were created for forest workers. In the 16th century sawmills, breweries, mills and ponds were built in the area on noble land.
After the decline in the Thirty Years War, the imperial captain Francois de Couriers acquired the town, and the half-abandoned town was rebuilt from the end of the 17th century. In the middle of the 19th century, 854 people lived here. In 1853 Trhová Kamenice received city rights. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the local trade with stone and semi-precious quarries, glass production and textile industry developed.
