history
Lichtenburg Castle was probably built as a royal foundation in the first half of the 13th century. It was first mentioned in 1261 when it was in possession of the Smil von Ronow , who was the first to call himself von Lichtenburg and thus founded the Lichtenburg family branch.
The castle had a triangular floor plan with two residential towers . The castle was rebuilt in the 14th century, and in 1410 it became a royal estate. In the Hussite Wars it was conquered in 1421 and besieged again in 1428. In 1490 the Trčka von Lípa acquired the castle and the Lichtenburg rule and had the castle rebuilt in the late Gothic style. After losing importance in the second half of the 16th century, the fortifications were razed in the 17th century. In 1700 it was already referred to as a ruin.
