Picador Guest Professorship for Literature

The Picador Guest Professorship for Literature is a 2006 by the University of Leipzig in cooperation with the Picador publisher, the German Academic Exchange Service and the event forum of the Holtzbrinck Publishing Group at the Institute of American Studies of the University of Leipzig appointed visiting professor . This is intended to convey and critically reflect on Anglo-American literature.

The leitmotif of the Picador visiting professorship is the democracy of language and literature. Young English-language authors meet students from Leipzig University on a common level, literary work. Authors, screenwriters and critics are invited. Established authors are addressed as well as newcomers and authors of the avant-garde. Two seminars are offered each semester: one on literary history and one on creative writing.

The current visiting professor for the summer semester 2017 is the American author Tom Drury .
