Picture Transfer Protocol over IP

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Picture Transfer Protocol over IP ( PTP / IP ) is a protocol for image transfer that was developed by FotoNation Inc. and introduced by Nikon in September 2004.

The functionality of PTP / IP is similar to that of PTP ( Picture Transfer Protocol , ISO-15740 PTP), so the operating system recognizes a connected imaging device and offers suitable transfer functions.

One possible application is the transmission of image files via a wireless LAN ; the in-house product Wireless Transmitter WT-1 , for example, only supports file transfer via FTP or IEEE 802.11b .
