Pielisen museo ( Pielinen Museum) is an open-air museum on the Lieksanjoki River very close to the city center of Lieksa , Finland . It is the second largest open-air museum in Finland and shows the life of the people in the region between Lake Pielinen and Russian Karelia . The museum consists of an exhibition building and an open-air area with over 70 buildings. This is divided into a courtyard from the year 1600, a farmstead from the 17th and 18th centuries and a tenant farm around 1900. The exhibition building is a smoke house from around 1800. There is also a windmill, two water mills, a sauna, and exhibitions for rafting, agriculture around 1900, fishing and the fire service.
