Reinhold Biskup

Reinhold Biskup (born February 4, 1934 in Opole ) is a German economist and professor emeritus for economics , especially economic policy, at the University of Leipzig .

Life

Reinhold Biskup was born in Opole, Upper Silesia in 1934 . The Second World War forced his family to leave Silesia, so that Cologne became his new home. At the university there, he began studying economics , which he achieved with his doctorate. rer. pole. Graduated in 1969. Biskup's habilitation followed in 1974. From 1960 to 1977 he also worked as an assistant to Alfred Müller-Armack and as an employee at the Institute for Economic Policy. In 1977 he followed the call of the Federal Armed Forces University in Hamburg to a position as professor of economics, particularly economic policy. He held this position until 1992 when he moved to Leipzig University and became head of the local Institute for Economic Policy. There he played a decisive role in the development of the newly founded institute until his retirement in 1999. His main research interests were in the field of economics, in particular economic policy and international economic relations.

Biskup was a co-signer of the Euro-critical manifesto The Monetary Policy Decisions of Maastricht: A Threat to Europe (1992).
