Pierotti was the name of the 18th century by the family in the Kingdom of Great Britain founded dolls - manufacturer , based in London .

history

Partially undressed body from Aldis

The Pierotti family, who originally came from Italy , produced "[...] excellently modeled wax doll heads" from around 1789, but from 1850 also supplied dolls made of composite material and paper mache .

Pierotti's heads were placed on dolls made of soft fabric, also made by the family. The PIEROTTI mark , which is rarely found today and which was engraved on the neck of a doll, is well known. However, many of the family's dolls' heads did not bear this mark, as the pieces delivered to other dealers often bore their mark , such as that of Frederic Aldis, who was also based in London .

Pieces from Pierotti, which appeared sporadically on the collectors' market at the end of the 20th century , mostly came from the period after 1880.

The creations of the Pierotti family, along with those of the Montanari family, were among the most famous wax dolls in Great Britain.

The Pierottis produced dolls until around 1920.
