Pierre-André Boutang

Pierre-André Boutang (* 1937 in Paris ; † August 20, 2008 near Grosseto-Prugna ) was a French filmmaker and co-founder of the Franco-German television channel ARTE .

Boutang made films from the 1960s, often including portraits of important intellectuals and artists such as Pablo Picasso , Claude Lévi-Strauss and Serge Daney . He was one of the co-founders of the TV channel ARTE and on this the program Metropolis , to which he wanted to give a German-French-intercultural mediator function.

Boutang died at the age of 71 in a swimming accident while on vacation off Corsica .
