Pierre Camus (musician)

Pierre Camus (* 1885 ; † 1948 ) was a flautist, composer , teacher , conductor .

Life

Pierre Camus completed his musical studies with Philippe Gaubert , Paul Taffanel (flute) and Gabriel Fauré, among others . This was so successful that he was selected for the Concour de Rome (1911–1912). He was a flautist (including Concerts Colonne ), teacher, conductor and composer. From 1921 to 1948 he was director of the Conservatoire in Amiens. His compositional style is firmly anchored in the French tradition at the beginning of the 20th century and is evidence of great poetry and warm lyricism.
