Pierre Caron (director)
Pierre Antoine Caron ( Pedro Antonio Caron ; born August 15, 1901 in Paris , † February 22, 1971 in Caracas ) was a French screenwriter, film director and producer.
Caron made his first film, L'Homme qui vendit son âme au Diable , at the age of twenty, making him the youngest director in the world at the time. In the years up to 1941 he made more than twenty films, including La Mare au Diable (1923), La tentation (1936), Cinderella (1937), Les Femmes collantes (1938), La Route enchantée (1938), Bécassine (1939) and Ils étaient cinq permissionnaires (1941). The film Pension Jonas (1941) was banned by the censorship of the Vichy regime , whereupon Caron fled to Colombia with the help of friends. There he made several films under the name Pedro Antonio Caron until his death .
