Pierre Corneille van Geel
Pierre Corneille van Geel , also Petrus Cornelius van Geel (born October 12, 1796 in Mechelen , † March 1838 in Paris ) was a priest , polemicist and botanist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Van Geel ".
Together with the Belgian naturalist Pierre Auguste Joseph Drapiez (1778-1856) he was the founder and administrator of the Royal Company of Horticulture of the Netherlands .
Van Geel and Pierre Auguste Joseph Drapiez gave the richly illustrated work Encyclographie du règne végétal. Sertum botanicum… which appeared in several volumes from 1828 to 1832 and contains around 600 lithographic images.
