Pierre Godolin (* 1579 in Toulouse ; † September 10, 1649 ibid) was a Provencal poet .

Pierre de Goudulin devoted himself to law and became a lawyer , but then turned entirely to poetry . His poetry in Provencal was influenced by his reading of the classical poets.

His reputation soon spread throughout southern France, where his work was well received by the nobility and where he was also a frequent guest.

The Toulouse City Council granted him a pension of 300 livres , on which he lived. Shortly before his death he went to the local Carmelite monastery , where he died on September 10, 1649.

His poems, which consist of ballads, stanzas, elegies and epigrams, are characterized less by depth of thought and feeling than by grace and the charm of melodic language. His most important is the ode to the death of Henry IV . His works were published collectively under the title Las Obros de Pierre Goudelin: Augmentados noubelomen de forço pessos, ambé le Dictiounari sur la lengo Moundino .
