Life

Hôtel Gouthière in Paris

Pierre Gouthière learned the craft of ciseleurs from François Ceriset , whose widow he later married. At the height of his success, he had a Hôtel particulier built between 1772 and 1780 , which is now known as the Hôtel Gouthière . It is located 6, rue Pierre Bullet , behind the Mairie of the 10th arrondissement . Since he had ruined himself financially, he had to sell the city palace. He died in utter poverty in 1813.

In 1933 a street in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, Rue Gouthière , was named after him.
