Pierre Patout
Pierre Patout (born April 23, 1879 in Tonnerre , † May 21, 1965 in Rueil-Malmaison ) was a French architect, interior designer and city planner whose work is stylistically attributed to Art Deco and moderate modernism .
Together with Alfred Lombard, Patout equipped three ocean liners for the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique : in 1925 the Île de France , 1931 the L'Atlantique and 1935 the much admired Normandy . His “Pavillon d'un collectionneur” at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et industriels modern also became famous . Patout designed the French pavilion for the 1939 World's Fair in New York . After 1945, Patout was the chief architect of the reconstruction of the city of Tours and built the city library there. He was also the chief architect of Galeries Lafayette .
