Pierre Villette

Pierre Villette (born February 7, 1926 in Duclair , † March 6, 1998 in Aix-en-Provence ) was a French composer.

Villette came from a musically active family and learned to play the organ as a child. After teaching by Maurice Duruflé , he attended the Conservatoire de Paris from 1941 to 1946 . In 1957 he was appointed director of the Besançon Conservatory. Due to his poor health, he moved to a region with a milder climate and in 1968 took over the management of the Conservatory of Aix-en-Provence.

Villette's catalog raisonné comprises over eighty titles, including numerous chamber music works, motets , two masses and an operetta .
