Piersland House Hotel

The Piersland House Hotel is a hotel operation in the Scottish town of Troon in the Council Area South Ayrshire . In 1977 it was included in the Scottish Monument Lists in the highest category A. The building was built to a design by the Scottish architect William Leiper and completed in 1899 after a year of construction. Extensions were added in 1903, 1920, and in the late 20th century. Originally not conceived as a hotel, Piersland House was converted to meet the needs.

The two-story building is on Craigend Road on the southern edge of town. It is designed in the old English style. On the ground floor, the masonry of the asymmetrical hotel is made of exposed red sandstone . The clear leaded glass windows are grouped into twin , triple or quadruple windows, which are separated by sandstone central posts. The entrance area, designed with half-timbering and glass, juts out on the west side. The upper floor is made with half-timbering. The spaces in between are plastered with Harl . The gable surfaces are clad with slate. The complex building closes with slate-covered roofs with irregularly arranged skylights and dormers .
