Piet Van Engelen
Piet Van Engelen (born May 12, 1863 in Lier , † October 17, 1924 in Antwerp ) was a Belgian animal painter, younger brother of Louis Van Engelen (1856–1941).
Van Engelen studied at the Académie royale des beaux-arts de Liège with P. Drion and at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten van Antwerpen with Charles Verlat .
He was a member of the Flemish Association of Young Artists "Als Ik Kan". In 1894 he created a painting on the theme of the Congo for the world exhibition “Oud Antwerpen” together with Robert Mols (1848–1903). He painted a lot of murals. In 1897 he was appointed professor at the Antwerp Academy.
