Pieter-Jan Belder

Pieter-Jan Belder (born January 19, 1966 ) is a Dutch harpsichordist , flautist and conductor.

Life

Pieter-Jan Belder first studied the recorder with Ricardo Kanji at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and the harpsichord with Bob van Asperen at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam . After graduating in 1990, a career as a concert pianist and harpsichordist followed. In 2000 he won the Leipzig Bach Competition in the field of harpsichord. From 2001 to 2004 he gave harpsichord lessons at the Rotterdam Conservatory .

Belder participated in the complete recording (Brilliant Classics) of all works by Johann Sebastian Bach . From 2000 to 2007 he published a complete recording of all 555 sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti (Brilliant Classics 93546). With the ensemble Musica Amphion (concertmaster Rémy Baudet ), which he co-founded , further recordings followed such as the complete works of Arcangelo Corelli , the table music by Georg Philipp Telemann and the entire chamber music works of Purcell and Handel . From the complete recording of the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book , 6 double CDs with recordings from 2010 to 2016 have been released so far.
