Rotterdam's Conservatory
The Rotterdam Conservatorium is a conservatory in Rotterdam , one of the nine music academies in the Netherlands . The conservatory was founded in 1930 and is now part of the Codarts College of Art .
Courses are offered in the subjects of music theater, pop, jazz / fusion, composition / arrangement, music production, tango, flamenco, world music (e.g. Turkish, Indian, Brazilian, Latin American), classical music and music education. The aim is to obtain a bachelor's or master's degree.
In 2008 about 750 students and 175 pupils studied there in the preparatory courses. The program is internationally oriented and the university works with the Conservatories of Lyon, the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki , the University of New Orleans and music schools in Havana (Instituto Cubano de la Música), Córdoba (Argentina) and Bombay .
Codarts in Rotterdam also includes the Rotterdam Dance Academy and a program for circus arts . The university runs many of its programs in building Kruisplein 26 opposite the main train station, but also has other branches in Rotterdam, such as the Pop Academy in the Waterfront Pop Center in Boompjes and the music theater department on Voorschoterlaan, the world music department in Delfshaven.
